Job Description

The Manager of Capital Expenditures is responsible for the successful development and management of the company’s strategic business capital investments projects.

Responsibilities to include the following:

  • Developing detailed capital project scopes, estimates, schedules, justifications and ROIs that are cost-effective processes and strategies
  • Ensuring equipment output, efficiencies and reliability are improved through modifications, upgrades in process design, new equipment and layout changes
  • Recommending and completing required reports and documentation for the acquisition of equipment, tools and materials to improve quality and cost reduction
  • Implementing and maintaining systems of lean strategies to support the achievement of strategic business objectives
  • Recommending methods for improving worker efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities, such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing work flow, relocating work states and equipment and purchase of equipment
  • Managing project contract labour force – responsible for bidding, conditioning and awarding contracts
  • Coordinating kick-off meetings
  • Preparing, distributing and keeping current project charts – ensuring schedule for install, commissioning is known, remains accurate and keeps all departments up to date
  • Tracking and reporting of capital project statues regarding cost and schedule
  • Ability to recognize potential problems during the fulfillment process and escalating within the company and ensuring satisfactory resolution
  • Assisting in the development of written company standards, specifications and training docs related to any equipment modified and new installation
  • Monitoring of Environmental concerns and monitoring disposal of industrial waste
  • Coordinating internal resources and third parties/vendors for the proper execution of projects
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Degree in Industrial Engineering or equivalent
  • P.Eng preferred
  • Hands on experience managing process plant, capital improvement projects
  • Minimum two years experience working as a Project Manager within a Manufacturing / Packaging facility
  • Solid technical background
  • Experience preparing project approval authorizations, developing specifications
  • Ability to manage project resources, budgets and schedules
  • Ability to fill in for Maintenance Supervisor when absent
