Job Description

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Production Supervisor role will consist of ensuring that all resources available are utilized in a manner consistent with the manufacturing of high quality products and production goals, as well as supervising the hourly production workforce, creating and maintaining a safe working environment and a high-performing efficient team, as well as the following daily duties and responsibilities:

  • Responsible for 20+ production associates in the following areas:
  • Safety (personal and equipment)
  • Manufacturing procedures and processes
  • Troubleshooting (non-conforming products, equipment casualty and/or failure)
  • Meeting production requirements
  • Effectively supervising and mentoring production associates
  • Ensuring that all equipment is operated and maintained properly – oversee and continuously monitor the overall operation of all equipment to ensure safe and efficient working conditions
  • Coordinating with the previous shift supervisor on orders, problems, work schedules, and housekeeping
  • Ensuring that a product produced meets quality specifications
  • Supporting activities and tasks required for efficient changeovers on the lines
  • Assisting with troubleshooting problems on production lines
  • Monitoring production, quality and process control functions
  • Maintaining effective employee relations and positive working relationships with personnel in supporting departments
  • Assisting scheduling in communicating what equipment is available to run a certain product
  • Maintaining production records and personnel documentation, and completing required reports
  • Abiding by and enforcing all safety policies and procedures
  • Scheduling personnel accordingly to meet production needs
  • Attending supervisor and plant meetings as required
  • Performing other duties as assigned by management team


  • Must have three (3) - five (5) years previous Production Supervision experience in a Manufacturing facility, with metal processing or heavy stamping experience necessary
  • Ability to work days and afternoon shifts and overtime as necessary
  • Proven ability to lead a team of production employees towards company goals and objectives
  • Experience with troubleshooting and problem solving
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing / Continuous Improvement an asset
  • Excellent communication skills, with ability to read, analyze and interpret technical process procedures; ability to write, present and explain reports and work instructions
  • Health & Safety and Quality background an asset
