Job Description

The responsibility for production planning and scheduling is that of the Production Planner / Scheduler; this position is also responsible for inventory control. This is a key position and is responsible for the daily plant production schedule and the control of production inventory.

Responsibilities include the following, but not limited to:

  • Planning, organizing and controlling daily/weekly production schedules
  • Executing daily, weekly, and monthly schedules for incoming and outgoing raw materials
  • Optimizing and using initiative on a daily and ongoing basis to execute production schedules through the use of planning, organizing and the controlling of resources
  • Attending and taking active role in weekly and daily production meetings with Plant Manager, Production Manager and Supervisors and other key operational support staff to review and monitor production progress on a daily basis as compared to the schedule
  • Identifying and reporting capacity and/or material supply problems well in advance and conveying purchasing requisitions for material procurements
  • Reviewing new and current product specifications, revising the existing specifications and making recommendations
  • Organizing and communicating with necessary parties the plant’s production schedule
  • Developing and maintaining existing planning models for production and inventory scheduling
  • Ensuring that inventory levels in warehouse, production and distribution operations result in superior customer service levels
  • Communicating with Sals and Customer Service Department on current and future demands
  • Ability to factor number of constraints – shelf life maximization, storage limitations, frequency order patterns, etc
  • Supporting R&D and identifying schedule and planning concerns and opportunities
  • Continuously assesses the production schedule and the product being produced and reacting in a timely manner to communicate potential problems
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Degree / diploma in manufacturing production scheduling / supply chain management, etc
  • Prior planning and / pr scheduling experience is required - preference given to those with at least five (5) years experience
  • Computer literacy and proficiency with MS Office programs - particularly Excel
  • Excellent mathematical ability
