Job Description

The Procurement Compliance Specialist is responsible for purchasing a wide variety of supplies or services while ensuring cost effective and on time material availability. Evaluates bids, selects and recommends suppliers and negotiates prices, delivery, quality and service for goods and services required for business purposes. Facilitating the Trade Compliance programs and related externally regulated programs, policies and procedures for the import and export of products and technologies.

Responsibilities include the following, but not limited to:

  • Purchasing materials, supplies and services. Evaluating bids, selecting and recommending suppliers and negotiating prices, delivery, quality and service
  • Expediting of open orders
  • Receiving goods into JDE
  • Negotiating and settling with suppliers regarding rejections, losses, return of materials, over shipments, cancellations and engineering changes
  • Initiating and processing NCMR’s – resolving and creating a corrective action plan. Supporting Customer Service and Supplier Quality during the process
  • Devising strategies that promote competitive advantages for the organization, creating RFQ packages and completing Total Cost Analysis
  • Coordinating and processing inventory cycle counts
  • Providing customers with quality experiences, establishing and maintaining effective relationships, demonstrating customer service orientation
  • Researching and providing guidance on HTS classification, country of origin, valuation, and other critical import trade compliance functions
  • Engage with internal logistics teams, customs brokers, and 4PL vendors
  • Overseeing import and export classification, licensing, auditing and export clearance for goods and technology
  • Completing and overseeing required Import Entry documentation including data, audits, corrections and record keeping
  • Maintaining product classification programs including Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), Export Control Classification Number (ECCN, and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)
  • Manage claims to address missing and damaged freight
  • Assisting with billing and submitting freight invoices for payment along with monthly Finance freight audits
  • Coordinating and overseeing annual Corporate Risk Assessments and site audits
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Must have minimum of two (2) years of purchasing
  • Previous experience purchasing within a manufacturing setting a definite asset
  • Proficient with MS Office production - Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Proficient with MRP systems - JD Edwards preferred
  • Ability to work within a complex manufacturing facility
  • Must have the ability to effectively communicate with customers, suppliers and all levels of corporate and company personnel
  • Must be able to work with all departments, have good communication and organizational skills, providing support to other departments and acts as the primary interface between company and it's suppliers
