Job Description

The Design Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day design processes for multiple projects. Responsibilities to include the following, but not limited to:

  • Working closely with Design Director to organize production team
  • Participating in weekly meetings – project team, details, coordination, staff and production
  • Weekly coordination with Project Team Leaders to manage project teams
  • Assisting in on-boarding, training and mentoring for new designers and Project Managers
  • Assigning and delegating to project team
  • Preparing and administering Project Schedules and Matrix in coordination with Project Managers
  • Developing and coordinating SIs, Cos, RFIs with Project Managers
  • Participating int he development of standards
  • Assisting Project Managers and Coordinators in liaison with design team and clients
  • Assisting in R&D for Automation Processes – robotics and parametrics
  • Overseeing Documental Control processes from design to fabrication
  • Acting as system administrator for Dropbox, Sharepoint, PDM and BIM 360
  • Assisting in presentations to new owners and design teams, including travel
  • Assisting in the review and interview process for potential employees
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Ten (10) years in construction/architectural design or manufacturing
  • Degree in Architecture, Architectural Technology, etc
  • Minimum of 8 years experience with 3D Modeling with demonstrated advanced use of Revit 
  • Experience managing both teams and projects
  • Experience managing information flow between owners, design team and in-house teams
  • Advanced expertise in one or more of the following core areas - Structural Steel MEP, Facade systems, mixed material manufacturing
  • Knowledge of contract management and administration
  • Strong decision making, delegation and tracking skills
  • Able to identify priorities, risk and long-term objectives
  • Experience with MS Office, Ms Project, BIM360, Procore or comparable construction software
