Job Description

The Buyer is responsible for the procurement of non-stock items required for production as well as planned consumables. Responsibilities to include the following but not limited to:

  • Sourcing, negotiating and obtaining price quotations from catalogues and suppliers.
  • Preparation of purchase orders.
  • Identifying vendors of materials, equipment or supplies and inviting tenders, consulting with suppliers, reviewing quotations and participating in the negotiation of purchase contracts
  • Establishing delivery schedules, monitoring progress and contacting clients and suppliers to resolve problems
  • Monitoring inventory levels of critical parts and ensuring they are appropriately maintained
  • Coordinating purchase orders for preventative maintenance program with Maintenance Team
  • Preparing and maintaining purchasing files, reports and price lists
  • Coordinating and monitoring special project expenditures and initiating payments on capital expenditures
  • Evaluating cost and quality of goods or services
  • Analyzing production schedule, projection for release of stock supplies
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Degree / diploma in a field related to business
  • Minimum two (2) years of Purchasing experience
  • Experience purchasing packaging, planned consumables, maintenance items, etc
  • Must have strong Excel skills
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  •  Strong analytical skills
