Job Description

Reporting directly to the Controller the Accounts Payable clerk processes invoices, prepares payments and maintains accurate files for the accounting department.

Responsibilities include the following, but not limited to:

  • Reviewing and posting invoices
  • Preparing payments and ensuring that all entries are coded to the appropriate accounts
  • Reviewing vendor statements and confirming any potential discrepancies
  • Responsible for bank deposits when required
  • Ensuring all Payment Authorizations are completed and filed in numerical order by month
  • Ability to participate in month-end, quarter-end, year-end processes and reporting
  • Maintaining confidential records and files in accordance with the Provincial Standards and Regulations
  • Preparing analyses of accounts and produce reports
  • Attending meetings when required/requested
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Management


  • Degree or Diploma in accounting
  • Minimum two (2) years of Accounts Payable experience (large volume)
  • Knowledge of Simply Accounting / Sage 50
  • Demonstrated attention to detail is a top priority
  • Ability to perform moderate to complex account reconciliations
  • Knowledge of general accounting principles, standards and compliance requirements
